Alya was originally drawn to the yoga for its wisdom and its ability to help maintain her body and soul under a rigorous performing schedule. She began as a professional dancer dancing with many greats like the Jose Limon Co. She is a movement analyst and past faculty at the Laban Inst. of Movement Analysis in NYC. Alya is a myofacial bodyworker CTT and is faculty for the teacher training in this modality too. An experienced teacher of dance, choreography and movement analysis to dance companies and universities all over the world, Alya soon made the seamless shift to teaching yoga. Alya has been teaching for over 30 years, whose life’s purpose has been to discover ways to create more life, joy, energy and expression in and through the body. For the past 8 years Alya has been a student of Rod Stryker, Parayoga;, completing all 9 of his teacher trainings. She is deeply influenced by the alignment principles of Anusara Yoga, the steadiness of a consistent practice, the wisdom of a traditional lineageand the playfulness of vinyasa and dance. Currently living in Carbondale, Colorado Alya was the General Manager for Vital Yoga Cherry Creek and steered the conversion and expansion to the Kindness Yoga Centers; co- creating special events, teacher training along with leading her own retreats internationally. Taking a sabbatical from administration, Alya is thrilled to be back in the studio teaching classes and to have been part of an expanding Wellness program in Mustique. Her classes, keep you engaged, on your toes and are thoughtfully planned for all levels.
